Review : Mad Hippie Exfoliating Face Serum!

Last October, I bought Mad Hippie’s Exfoliating face serum from iHerb (Click here to see that haul post). I love serums. That’s no secret. Mad Hippie, though unusually named, is an advanced skincare brand. All of their products have very powerful, natural antioxidant ingredients. The more powerful the ingredients, the better the results are.

I have been using it for about 2 months now and it’s a good time period to judge the product well. This serum contains 16 active ingredients in it. Those 16 ingredients are : Glycolic acid, Vitamin B5, Lactic acid, Matrixyl 3000, Vitamin C, Niacinamide, Sodium hyaluronate, White tea extract, Goji berry extract, PhytocellTec (Apple Stem cells of the rare Swiss apple which have been shown to protect skin cells from age related damages, in combination with a few other ingredients), Gigawhite (A natural blend of six organically grown alpine plants that lessen discoloration by inhibiting melanin production), Melatonin, Caffeine, Biotin, Tocopheryl acetate and Ceramide 3. This product contains no parabens, harmful chemicals, synthetic color or fragrance.

These ingredients work together to help shed dull, damaged skin & discoloration to reveal brighter, smoother skin. Within a couple of weeks, I could see the results!. My skin was visibly brighter. Even my family noticed it when they saw me after a gap of two weeks. There is a bouncy feel to my skin which is really healthy.

The outer packaging has cute floral designs on them. The brand believes in flower power and being close to nature when developing their products. The serum itself, comes in a dark brown glass bottle. It has a dropper, which is one of my favorite kind of packaging for such products. The serum is beige in color. It looks a bit sticky when you dispense it out through the dropper. However, when you apply it onto your face, it isn’t sticky at all. It’s almost liquid like, then. It gets absorbed into the skin, super fast. It smells like apple and coffee mixed together!. Though individually these smells are nice, combined am not a fan of it. So, I am disliking it’s scent however when looking at how amazing the product is, I can live with it!

The bottle contains 30 ml and will last a LONG time. You only need 2 drops each time. I give two long presses on the cap of the dropper. That dispenses enough amount to cover both my face and neck. The liquid consistency is easy to work with and spreads well. I use this every night right before applying an oil. To read my nighttime skincare routine, click here.

Since some of the ingredients in this serum can cause sensitivity to sun, it’s best advised to use it only at night. Use sunscreens, if you like to use it in the morning. I highly recommend this serum. This is one of the best serums I have ever used. It’s not just about having my skin brightened. It’s about the overall feeling of healthy skin that I just love!.

Price : $27.99 (AED 102.81) for a 30ml bottle. It seems really expensive but in the long run (since a bottle lasts really long), it’s a good investment. Also, iHerb has the lowest prices. It’s best to buy from there. Even Mad Hippie’s own website sells these for $34.99 (AED 128.52).

iHerb ships worldwide by the way. It ships from US, ultra fast. Use the code SCZ695 on your first purchase to receive an instant discount of upto $10.

Have you tried any of Mad Hippie’s skincare products?. If yes, do leave me a comment below.

Review : Clear Shampoo & Conditioner!

I recently tried Clear’s Intense Hydration shampoo and conditioner. Here are my thoughts about it:

The shampoo is step one, which is ‘Cleanse’. It has a creamy, luxurious texture and the lightest bluish tinge to it. It comes in a sturdy bottle with a flip open lid at the top. It is fused with Cactus extract. This shampoo is for all hair types especially those with dry scalp. It is supposed to penetrate deep into the scalp and replenish it with essential hydration.

The highlight of this shampoo is that it doesn’t dry out the hair or scalp. However, from the description of the products, I expected to have an intensely hydrated feeling after using it. I didn’t feel that. It felt better than a regular shampoo but not great. Also, one of the main ingredients in it is Sodium Laureth Sulfate, which helps in creating lather but is not a good ingredient.

Price : AED 19.40 for a bottle containing 400ml.

It will last a good while but I don’t think I will buy it in future.

The Conditioner is step two, which is ‘Nourish’. It has a thick texture and a light blue tinge to it. This one is also infused with Cactus extract. After shampooing, massage a small amount on the lower half of your hair. It’s consistency is really nice and so easy to apply to the hair. The bottle has a flip open lid at the bottom, so as to easily dispense the product while you are in the shower. I leave it on for about 5 to 6 minutes usually.

I really liked this product. My hair became noticeably softer and felt more hydrated after using it. I do recommend you try it out!. This is definitely a product I will buy again.

Price : AED 19.85 for a bottle containing 400ml.

Both these products are the anti-dandruff kind. However, I don’t have dandruff right now. So, I can’t really say how well it works on dandruff. Both of these have a pleasant and clean smell that lingers on your hair for almost 24 hours. It is meant for everyday usage, but I don’t use it more than 2 times a week.

If you have tried these products, let me know your thoughts on it, by leaving a comment below.

Review: Wow by Wojooh Master Blender!

I am thrilled to review Wow by Wojooh’s Master Blender. It’s my first time ever trying a beauty sponge. This one is pink in color and came in a little plastic pack which said Master Blender on it.

It was slightly dense, the first time I took it out from the pack. It didn’t have much give when I squeezed it. Here, you can see how big it was originally.

To use it, I soaked it in water for a minute or so. It grew in size and became soft!. I squeezed out excess water from it and it was ready to use. I took a bit of foundation on the back of my hand, dipped the sponge in it and then applied it to my face in a circular motion, bouncing it slightly off the skin’s surface. Since the damp sponge is saturated with water, it doesn’t absorb the foundation, thus avoiding any wastage. Also the dampness overall gives a desirable dewy look to your face at the end of the application. The tip of the sponge is perfect to apply foundation/concealer in the inner corner of your eyes.

What I noticed is that, after acquiring this sponge, I haven’t reached for my foundation brush!. I freaking love this blender sponge so much!. It gives a streak free and flawless look. The end result is a ‘my-skin-but-better’ look ♥. You can use the Master Blender to apply eye shadow or to contour too. However, I haven’t tried that out yet.

I clean the sponge after every use, so as to keep it hygienic. It’s a sponge after all. It can harbor bacteria if you don’t cleaan it well. Using unclean products on your face can result in breakouts. Here is how I clean my Master Blender:

Here is what I started off with, before cleaning. Pretty dirty!. FYI : The foundation that I use is Make Up For Ever’s Liquid Lift Foundation. At first, I applied a makeup remover (Garnier’s Makeup Remover Milk) on it. I dampened it with warm water. Then I slowly worked the makeup remover into the sponge, rubbing it. On squeezing, most of the makeup was removed. Then I used a cleanser (Neutrogena’s Deep Clean cleanser) to repeat the ‘rubbing and squeezing under water’ process. Finally, all makeup was removed from the sponge.

I then wrapped the sponge in a paper towel and squeezed it, so that excess water came off efficiently. I did that twice, taking a new paper towel the second time. Then I left it standing on a flat surface overnight to dry. After cleaning this way, there were no traces of makeup left at all and the sponge was as good as new once again, as you can see below. Also, compare this picture with picture number two in this post to see the size difference, once it’s damp.

It didn’t shrink back to the original size after drying. It’s a soft sponge now. However, each time you use it, you need to wet it, so that the application of the foundation is flawless every single time!.

Price : AED 40

It’s easy to use and I highly recommend you check out this multi-purpose sponge. It is available exclusively at Wojooh stores (formerly known as Faces).

Review: Rahua Shampoo & Conditioner!

Hey guys!

I am super excited to review luxury hair care range, Rahua, pronounced as Ra-wa. This range is a celebrity favorite with a cult following of A-list celebrities including Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Lopez and Johnny Depp!.

Here is the sample pack I received from the brand. The shampoo and conditioner each were in little plastic bottles containing 60ml each.

Rahua is certified organic and contains a conditioning nut oil which is found in the deepest, darkest parts of the Amazon rainforest. This Rahua nut oil repairs even the most damaged hair and has been used by the Amazonian tribal women for centuries. A percentage of each Rahua sale goes to preserving and protecting the Amazon Rainforest and it’s inhabitants. Rahua’s motto is ‘Beauty is Power’. Rahua products are vegan, parabens free, silicone free, gluten free, Aromatherapeutic and eco-friendly.

Rahua Shampoo

The shampoo is 100% natural and organic. It’s color and texture is that of honey – a golden colored viscous liquid. It’s scent is so divine!. If you close your eyes and smell it, it feels like you are right in the middle of a forest, taking in the scent of nature, the trees and the earth. It’s a beautiful scent, one that takes you closer to nature.

You need only a little each time. It creates a light lather and leaves you hair feeling so healthy and lustrous. Also, when your hair air dries, it feels strong rather than dry. The divine smell lingers on your hair too. It’s just so lovely. This is easily one of the best shampoos I have tried.

It is power packed with ingredients such as Green tea leaf extract, Rosemary leaf extract, Raspberry leaf extract, Aloe leaf extract, Sea salt, Rahua nut oil, Quinoa and more.

Price: AED 210 for a bottle containing 275 ml.

Rahua Conditioner

The conditioner is a very thick formula. It’s cream in color. It nourishes the scalp and leaves the hair feeling soft. It doesn’t create build up in the hair. It’s ingredients are very much the same as the ones in the shampoo. It also has a really amazing, close to nature kind of smell but somehow it’s a bit different from that of the shampoo.

I usually apply the conditioner on the lower half of my hair. I love how it leaves my hair with a natural shine. One other amazing functionality of this conditioner is that it doubles as a styling cream!. It gives medium hold and keep the hair in place. My husband has been loving using this as his styling cream, in place of his usual styling gel. I am not into styling my hair. So, I continue to use it as my conditioner.

Price: AED 220 for a bottle containing 275 ml.

The Rahua range is available at Plethora Hair lab, Posh by Feyral at Burj al Arab and Harvey Nichols in Dubai. Also, visit to purchase directly online.

Stay tuned for my review on Rahua’s Omega 9 hair mask!

Review : Vaseline body lotions range!

Hi guys!

Body lotions are heaven sent during winter. It keeps moisture locked into your skin and thus helps in evading dry and chapped skin. Body lotions are light on skin and easily absorbed. Today I am reviewing four different variants in the Vaseline’s body lotions range:

  • Cocoa Glow – This one has the divine scent of cocoa, that lingers on for a long time after you have applied this on your body. It looks white at first but it does have the lightest brown tint to it. It gives a lovely glow to your skin. It contains cocoa butter and is creamy, indulgent and richly nourishing. I highly recommend this one!

  • Aloe Fresh – This is one of my favorites in this range. It’s scent is very refreshing and the pick me up kind. It instantly makes you feel good. The scent is soft and light but still lingers for a while. It’s very nourishing and gets absorbed into your skin very fast. This is definitely one that would be great for dry skin because it has Aloe Vera as it’s main ingredient. I highly recommend this one!

  • Healthy Even Tone – Even tough this is nourishing, it’s my least favorite out of all four mentioned here. It has a strange strong smell. This formula is supposed to even skin tone. I have been using it for months and I haven’t noticed a significant change in my skin tone to note here. It says on the bottle that it has ‘Triple Sunscreen’ and that it is enriched with Vitamin B3. I feel it a bit weird that it doesn’t show an SPF info on it. I have got to say though that one of the main ingredients in this one is ‘Niacinamide’ which is known to lighten skin. I won’t purchase this in future though, especially since lightening my skin tone isn’t a priority of mine.

  • Oat Extract – This is my absolute favorite out of the whole lot. It has pure oat extract in it. It has a soft and pleasant smell. Out of all four, this one is the most hydrating and nourishing, having been made especially targeting dry skin. It leaves your skin silky smooth and soft. This is one body lotion that will be on my repeat purchase list, whatever the season! I highly recommend this one ♥

Each of these bottles are 200ml, lasts a good while and costs between AED 12.75 – 13.50.

Have you guys tried these out?. Which is your favorite?. Leave me a comment below!

Review: Himalaya Herbals Kajal!

Hey guys!

I love eye liners of any kind. Kajals are intense liners. On my recent visit to India, I bought a kajal by the popular Indian brand Himalaya Herbals. It came in a little green pack.

It says on the pack that this is a ‘Herbal eye – definer’ that contains a unique blend of herbal extracts that cools and nourishes your eyes. It’s ingredients list contains some good names such as Almond oil, Castor oil, Camphor, Damask Rose and Triphala. It contains no harmful chemicals. The tube itself of the kajal looks like a little lipstick. You have to twist the bottom so that the product comes up.

The kajal is extremely smooth and intense. I love how it glides along the lash line so nicely. It’s easily one of the best kajals I have tried. It is waterproof. I didn’t necessarily reach for it because of that reason. Frankly, I don’t really care whether a product is waterproof or not. Once I wear it out for some hours, I remove it using one of my makeup removers along with the makeup on the rest of my face.

In this picture, you can see a single line created with the lightest possible pressure. This is the softest line and yet you can see how dark it is. I am in love with this jet black kajal ♥. You can easily achieve a darker and more intense look too. Using it instantly gives you a seductive and feminine look :P. This kajal is perfect for both beginners and experts I feel. Another awesome feature is it’s handy size. I actually went for the smaller size out of two available sizes. I love carrying it in my purse. In the below pic, look at how small it is!

The tube contains only 1 gm of product but it will last a good while. However, next time I am definitely going to buy the bigger size. I highly recommend this product.

Price : Rs. 45 (AED 2.67)

This product is available in UAE too. If I am not wrong, there is no small sized one here and the bigger size costs about AED18. It’s expensive here when compared to prices in India. That’s why I usually buy products like this that I use every day, from only India, when I go on vacation.
